How to prevent newly purchased clothes from stinking?

If you don't want to take them back to the store, I suggest soaking them in water with some baking soda in it. You also might try a vinegar and baking soda mixture as that works to take out many different kind of smells but I'm not sure if the vinegar would damage the color of the clothing. I would probably just end up returning them to the store though.
