Sooooo bored with my hair, what should I do?

I have medium length , light brown hair and hazel eyes. I don't want to do anything crazy color wise. I was thinking about going lighter or darker, but it costs alot to touch up roots, is it worth it? and any nice hair ideas? ......or should I just keep it natural?
